Dear Friends,
It's 2009 and a great time for change! Welcome to the first edition of
"Elevate Your Game", my monthly e-Newsletter. 2009 will bring a myriad
of challenges, both good and bad, for all of us. We've elected the
first African-American president to lead our great nation, but our
national deficit is still spiraling out of control. Here at my firm, BCT Partners, we're seeing more and more
entrepreneurs taking the leap of faith. Meanwhile, the SBA is continuing
to cut critical programs to assist business owners and banks are
freezing credit lines and loans that are essential pipelines to the
success of small businesses. Although things are slated to get worse,
before they get better, I like to think that this is still a great time
to start a business. In this premier edition, we'll take a look at a
few entrepreneurs who are making progress despite a worsening economy.
Who knows, maybe they'll inspire you to be next!
Peace and blessings,
Randal

MISSION: VOTE PSA
In 2008, I was part of a historic group of entrepreneurs, athletes and
entertainers who came together to develop the Mission: VOTE! PSA,
encouraging all Americans to head to the polls on November 4th to vote.
The campaign featured actor Chris Tucker, actress Suzzanne
Douglas, actor Hill Harper, actress/producer Vivica A. Fox, TV
personality Rocsi and many other stars. We urged registered
voters, particularly people of color, to bring the necessary
identification to the voting booth on Election Day.
Check out what we did to support our country during on this historic
Election Day. To view, Click on the image.

WINNING THE GAME

As an entrepreneur, I've experienced the up's and down's of running my
own shop in the best of times and the worst of times, but certainly
without some of the current economic hardships that entrepreneurs are
now facing.
Because small business owners are fast becoming the backbone of the
economy, our success is critical to rebuilding our weakened business
state. Can it be done and are there any new ideas that will work? Check
out how four entrepreneurs are finding opportunities despite the hard times.
Innovation is the key to finding successful opportunities in a
recession. While no one wants to build success on the misfortune of
others, opportunities to improve a process, start a new trend or
re-invent the wheel are everywhere. In fact, some of the most well
known brands in the globe were founded during hard times. Read how
these five determined business owners were able to turn instability
into profitability and make themselves recession-proof. |
